About The Trainer

Ben Burger

Ben is an independent consultant, assisting organisations in setting strategic level direction towards ‘Risk-based Integrated Management’ (RIM). He also facilitates and serves as the Faculty Head: Risk Management at the Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management (http://www.davinci.ac.za/) – a School of Business Leadership in South Africa.

His experience includes 22 years – and 100+ projects – of delivering and/or project–managing consulting services to government agencies and the private sector. Completed projects span a wide range of organisations, across multiple industry sectors and ranging in size from SMMEs to multinational corporations.

Ben’s primary focus is on assisting organisations in developing risk-based integrated management systems strategies, based on their own unique value chain and process approach/systems thinking principles, to surmount the constraints of functional or silo-based process structures. The approach is distinctive in that it is based on integrating risk management and relevant requirements within organisational processes across strategic, tactical and operational levels, and the organisation’s activities (including its strategies and decisions, operations, processes, functions, projects, products and services).
This effectively creates a barrier between the employees and the host of internal and external requirements the organisation has opted to subscribe to. The aim is to effectively deploy the much sought-after notion of risk-based integrated management, where the organisation’s staff only “see” one system – with compliance being the outcome – as opposed to being the objective – of the way they execute their tasks on a daily basis.
