This course enables participants to become certified risk management professionals (Foundations level). The training and exam are based on the ISO 31000:2018 risk management standard which can be used by organizations of any size, any industry, and any sector.

In this intensive two and half day course, participants develop competence in the foundations of the ISO 31000 :2018 risk management standard . Based on in-depth teaching , practical exercises and quiz questions that test their aptitude, participants acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to pass the stringent exam.

They do so by becoming familiar with the vocabulary, principles, framework and the risk management process proposed in the ISO 31000:2018 standard. During the online course, we will present the ISO 31000 Risk Management Principles and Guidelines and its two companions, the ISO 31073:2022 (previously known as ISO Guide 73:2009), and the IEC/ISO 31010:2019 Risk Assessment Techniques.

About The Trainer

Alex Dali

Alex Dali is well known today through his very active work in raising awareness of Risk Management Standards, particularly on ISO 31000. Holding a Msc in Chemical engineering, a degree Business Administration and a post-master in Risk Management, he has worked in the last 25 years on many aspects of risk management: industrial risk management, loss prevention, natural disaster risk management, business impact analysis, business interruption, business continuity management, standards and regulations. Today, Alex is a recognized as the founder of the G31000 Risk Institute and active owner/moderator of the LinkedIn group which has reached 94,000+ members.
As part of the international ISO Technical Committee TC262 representing France, he is one of the active authors of the original version of the ISO 31000:2009 standard.
He is an invited professor in several universities and institutes, trainer for workshops and writing articles on ISO 31000.

Introduction to risk management

  • Understand the risk management concepts as defined by ISO 31000:2018.
  • Understand the benefits of risk management to an organization.
  • Understand the ISO 31000:2018 risk management principles and how they influence the risk management framework and process.
  • A quiz and review on the elements learned during the day.

Day 2

The framework and process

  • Understand the risk management framework at a high level.
  • Detailed presentation of the risk management process.
  • Risk identification, risk analysis, risk evaluation and risk treatment.
  • Risk assessment tools recommended in IEC/ISO 31010.
  • Risk communication.
  • Risk monitoring and review.
  • A quiz and review on the elements learned during the day.

Exam

Day 3

Morning: Overall review, examination and results

  • Testing your knowledge with sample exam questions
  • Information regarding the validation procedure of G31000 pertaining to the ISO 31000 certification – foundations level
  • Exam on the foundations of ISO 31000 (duration: 2 hours)

Prerequisites

Attendees should read the ISO 31000:2018 risk management standard before the course, especially the vocabulary, the principles, the framework and the process proposed in the ISO 31000 standard.
