Geraint has 30 years of risk management experience, originally as a nuclear submarine engineer with the British Royal Navy and then as a consulting risk engineer in the infrastructure and power industries covering both technical and environmental areas. He subsequently became involved in aviation and held roles with Air New Zealand as Manager Operational Risk and Business Continuity as well as Manager Risk and Compliance in the airline’s Internal Audit department. Geraint is a director of Navigatus Consulting – a specialist multi-sector risk management consultancy and is the current Chair of the New Zealand Society for Risk Management. He has since 2001 been a member of the Australian and New Zealand joint standards committee for risk management that was responsible for preparing AS/NZS4360:2004, as well as many other standards covering environmental, communications and technical aspects of risk management . He was one of two New Zealand experts on the ISO31000 Working Group and assisted the Australian mirror committee working on ISO31010 as well as being closely involved in preparation of the local version of that standard AS/NZS HB89. Geraint has a strong interest in risk analysis and the use of web technology to communicate complex risk information is simple and accessible ways.
